State Trucking Associations Support BESTPASS Volume Discount Plan for PANYNJ Crossings
The New Jersey Motor Truck Association (NJMTA) and the New York State Motor Truck Association (NYSMTA) have requested the PANYNJ to consider implementing a volume discount Wednesday, August 24, 2011 The New Jersey Motor Truck Association (NJMTA) and the New York State Motor Truck Association (NYSMTA) have requested the PANYNJ to consider implementing a volume discount program for their crossings, to help offset the significant toll increase recently set by the authority. The recently approved toll increase will have a significant impact on the trucking industry which must use the Port Authority’s crossings. Any mechanism that will help to reduce the tolls will benefit the trucking industry, our customers and ultimately, the consumer at the cash register. The state associations have suggested that PANYNJ consider using a service such as BESTPASS, which is currently utilized on the New Jersey Turnpike, New York State Thruway, Pennsylvania Turnpike and the Maryland Department of Transportation to reduce administration costs of a volume discount program. |
