U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo, R-NJ, recognized the hard work of America’s truckers during an address to the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday, Sept. 23.

“Madam Speaker, I rise today to recognize America’s professional truck drivers who serve our nation by delivering the clothes we wear, the food we eat, and the medicine we rely on,” LoBiondo stated into the record.

The congressman has good reason to speak highly of truckers. He said that prior to getting into politics he worked for his family’s trucking business for 26 years.

“Trucking is an industry that I am personally quite familiar with,” he said. “… Early on, I acquired a commercial driver’s license, which I still carry.”

LoBiondo presented some statistics about trucking and discussed the amount of training and regulations that go along with driving. He commended truckers for their sacrifices and for their roles and responsibility in keeping the highways safe.

“I salute these fine professionals and their families for the dedication they have to America and for delivering life’s essentials safely and securely,” he said.

I find myself asking just what is happening to our country.
