i95travelinfo.net Spells Relief for Holiday Travelers on the East Coast
Web Site Provides Real-Time Traffic Information and Drive Times for 24 Metropolitan Areas and Between 15 States and Washington, D.C. Monday, August 30, 2010 Web Site Provides Real-Time Traffic Information and Drive Times for 24 Metropolitan Areas and Between 15 States and Washington, D.C. Rockville, MD – [August 30, 2010] – Travelers from Maine to Florida this Labor Day weekend will be able to save time and better plan their trips thanks to a web site that provides them with real-time traffic information and estimated drive times for roadways in and between major metropolitan areas along the East Coast. Covering 15 states and 24 metropolitan areas along the I-95 Corridor, www.i95travelinfo.net offers travelers speed and congestion information on the I-95 corridor, including I-95, the beltways surrounding each major city, and all associated routes that together make up the corridor. Visitors to the web site can manipulate the map to zoom to any of the 15 states and Washington D.C. Traffic congestion information is presented using various color codes; green to indicate free flow, yellow for moderate congestion, red for heavy congestion, maroon for stop-and-go, and black to indicate a closed road within the coverage area. “One of the Coalition’s goals is to make it easy to learn about traffic conditions along the I-95 Corridor,” said George Schoener, Executive Director, I-95 Corridor Coalition. “i95travelinfo.net continues to be an important element in supporting that goal at a time when travelers along the corridor can benefit from our efforts the most.” Visitors to the www.i95travelinfo.net are able to choose from a list of predefined locations to set an origin and a destination point. The system then calculates the estimated travel time, the regular travel time at that time of day, the distance between the two points, and a time stamp showing the time since conditions were last updated. A sample of available origin and destination locations are: Portland, Maine Manchester, New Hampshire Boston, Massachusetts Providence, Rhode Island Hartford, Connecticut New York City, New York Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Wilmington, Delaware Baltimore, Maryland Washington, D.C. Richmond, Virginia Raleigh, North Carolina Columbia, South Carolina Atlanta, Georgia Orlando, Florida The content for the Long Distance Trip Planning website has been designed to be utilized without the use of mobile devices. The web site is designed for standard PC browsers, and is not formatted for mobile device usage. Message from the President- February 2011 I recently had the privilege of representing the NJMTA at a reception held at the Governor's residence Drumthwacket. We were invited due to the generosity of two of our members, Lacey's Express, Inc. and National Retail Systems, Inc. who responded to a request for tractor donations Message From President - January 2011 As I prepared to write my first article for the NJMTA membership as the acting President, my thoughts are focused on the recent tragedy that occurred in Arizona where a Congressman was seriously wounded and 6 others murdered at a political rally. I find myself asking just what is happening to our country.
