(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT)announced a $5.5 million concrete repair and resurfacing project on nearly eight miles of I-295 northbound from south of Route 130 in Pennsville Township to just south of Pedricktown-Woodstown Road in Oldman’s Township, Salem County.

Starting Monday, April 5, NJDOT may conduct northbound single lane and shoulder closures Mondays through Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day, on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. the following day and on Sundays from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

“Resurfacing this stretch of Route 295 in Salem County will improve motorist safety, increase the efficiency of the roadway and increase the road’s lifespan by 15 to 20 years,” said Transportation Commissioner Jim Simpson.

The project, which also includes new guide rails, is scheduled for completion in August 2010. The southbound project limits were resurfaced in 2009.

Motorists are encouraged to check www.nj511.info for traffic updates.

I find myself asking just what is happening to our country.
